How To Maintain Healthy Hair

Washing your hair, applying a good conditioner and detangler, and using tools that won't damage your hair will help eliminate frizz and make it is easy for you to maintain beautiful, healthy hair.

Step 1

Using your natural bristle or rubber-toothed brush, brush through your hair thoroughly to remove any built-up residue from hair spray or other hair products, remove dry skin and stimulate hair growth.

Shampoo your hair as needed, using a clarifying shampoo twice a month to remove mineral buildup in your hair that can occur from showering with hard water. Adding a filter to your shower head will help reduce the mineral buildup on your hair and in your shower head, which can reduce the power stream of the water as you shower.

Step 3

Use conditioner each time you wash, and deep condition your hair once or twice a month to strengthen your hair. Use your hair dryer to warm up the hair and increase the effect of the treatment.

Step 4

Apply detangler as needed after you finish washing your hair and run a wide-toothed comb through your hair to avoid damaging it before styling.

Step 5

Trim your hair every four to eight weeks, depending on the length of your hair. The ends of the hair split with brushing and use of blow dryers and irons and will continue to split further if you neglect it.

Tips and Warnings

If you have curly hair, use a diffuser to help smooth out hair and lessen the amount of frizzing. Another way to decrease the amount of frizz is to use a nozzle on your hair dryer so the heat from the end of the dryer doesn't damage your hair.
To avoid damaging hair, color hair no more than once or twice a month and use a semi-permanent color.
