How to Exercise While on a Full Body Cleanse

A full-body cleanse is a process through which you work to eliminate toxins accumulated in your body. These toxins are both environmental and metabolic and can be caused by bad diet and poor health choices. Because body cleanses are intense and require you to consume few calories, you may not have the energy to perform a standard aerobic workout program. If that is the case, a specific, softer program is best.

Step 1

Take a 30-minute walk in the morning and evening. You can also choose to spend your lunch hour walking. Concentrate on deep breathing and good posture, and don't worry about how many calories you may or may not be burning.

Step 2

Spend at least 10 minutes a day on an activity you enjoy. Biking, swimming and gardening are all active pursuits that can be adjusted to your level of energy at any specific time. You can also take your dog for a longer-than-normal walk or play Frisbee in the park. Choose outdoor activities if possible to give your mind a chance to commune with nature.

Step 3

Do light stretches during the day. This can be done easily at work without leaving your chair, or you can take breaks of five minutes and stretch before returning to your activities. Simple stretches include sitting calf raises under the desk, stretching your arms over your shoulders and twisting to the sides to stretch your back and waist.

Step 4

Pay attention to how your body feels. Cleansing is as much a physical endeavor as it is a mental and spiritual one. By listening to your body and the thoughts that arise as you move about, you'll be able to let go of negative thoughts and help your body heal. Consider using a journal to write down feelings that surface during or after a workout.
