1. Walk it off
The most natural treatment for heart disease is exercise. Mild or heavy, the exercise must be regular and often, getting the heart to pump fresh, life-saving blood and oxygen through the arteries. The American Heart Association recommends at least 30 minutes of activity a day every day of the week. Very light movement counts when it comes to getting the heart working. Simple household chores, gardening and dancing all count towards that time limit. If you have been inactive for a long time, start with 10 minutes a day and build up to 30 minutes. You will be moving more within a week. Vacuum, push a lawn mower and make numerous trips up and down the stairs to add pressure on the heart and get ready for some heavier exercise. Exercise not only pumps your heart for more healthy circulation, it also produces endorphins, which are mood elevators. So the better you feel, the more excited you are about life and participating in it.
2. Eat Heart Healthy to Live
Limit the amount of carbohydrates you eat to treat heart disease, include plenty of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet, lower your fat consumption and get plenty of minerals and protein through your food. Poor eating habits are one of the main causes of heart disease as well as one of the main treatments. If a diet laden with fats and carbohydrates in the form of pastas and cream sauces, fried foods and fatty desserts got your arteries all clogged up so that your heart began to fail, then limiting those foods would make common sense. You don't need scientific research to figure that one out. Yet people with heart problems often return to those same old meal standbys while recuperating from heart surgery or experiencing a heart attack. Go natural, eat everything in moderation and stay away from fats and fried foods so your heart will have a chance at recuperating.
3. Look to the Earth
Quit smoking and find ways to alleviate stress to increase your odds of overcoming a weak ticker. You also add some natural supplements to your daily dose of multiple vitamins to give yourself an edge. Make sure you talk to your doctor before engaging in any serious supplemental additions to make sure they won't interact negatively with any medications you may be taking. You may try some herbs such as Hawthorn, which dilates the blood vessels fro better flow, passion flower, said to support cardiac functions or ginko biloba, quite popular in health food stores. Ginko biloba, an ancient Chinese herb, is supposed to be an effective cardiac muscle tonic and can serve as an antioxidant in the blood stream.
