1. Pamper Yourself on a Pontoon
Relax through fishing and improve your health, build relationships and enjoy life more. Modern society moves at a faster pace year by year. Job stresses, family pressures and too-full calendars make blood pressures soar and relationships sour. Fishing on a pontoon, floating along a quiet lake may be just what the doctor (or your therapist) ordered. Pontoons move slowly, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Choose a freshwater lake that's not too crowded and find calm coves. Freshwater fishing moves at a slower pace generally speaking, and an easy-to-handle pontoon makes your ride along the lake smooth and relaxing. Pontoons have canopies so you don't have to worry about getting caught out in bad weather. A pontoon is comfortable and generally spacious, and most have quiet motors. These features make conversation enjoyable with family and friends.
2. Send Troubles Downstream
The sport of fishing encompasses many types of fishing. One of the most relaxing forms of fishing for many people is river fishing or stream fishing. Flowing water is therapeutic in itself. The sound of moving water is calming for many people. Add to the sound of rushing water a beautiful mountain view and the possibility of catching trout and you have a great therapy session.
3. Learn to Fly
Fly fishing is a great type of fishing to take up if you're trying to take your stress level down a few notches. Learning a new skill takes your mind off of your problems. Consider taking some classes if you're not familiar with fly fishing. Of course, you can always teach yourself through videos, books and online courses. But there's nothing like the fun of standing in water with friends and a teacher, learning how to effortlessly cast a 60-foot fishing line into the breeze. Concentrate on snapping your wrist just right and forget snapping at your family or coworkers.
4. Shark Fishing
For the adrenaline junkie or Type A personality who just can't take it slow, shark fishing may be your way to relax through fishing. Charter a boat and hit the high seas. Shark fishing provides adventure, but also times for relaxation in between the hunt and fight cycle. Ocean scenery is gorgeous and many people find the smell of saltwater mist refreshing and relaxing. The adrenaline rush you get while reeling in a shark burns energy. Then your tense mind and body relax when the battle with the shark is over. It's a great way to de-stress.
