Ghirardelli chocolate comes from the company's propriety blend of cocoa beans and has a variety of nutritional values. While high in saturated fat, chocolate's fat is less harmful than other foods containing saturated fats.

Ghirardelli Chocolates

Ghirardelli has been making chocolate for more than 150 years. It claims to accept only the highest-quality beans and roast them in house to ensure consistent flavor.

Ghirardelli Products

Ghirardelli produces chocolate bars, peppermint bark, white and chocolate baking chips, cocoa powder and chocolate drink mixes, sauces, syrups, and a number of other products.

Nutritional Value

All Ghirardelli chocolate products contain calories, carbohydrates, caffeine, antioxidants and other nutritional substances. Most also contain saturated fat, although the chocolate's fats come partially from stearic and oleic acids, which do not contribute to high cholesterol levels.

Antioxidants

An article in the Yale-New Haven Nutrition Advisor states that chocolate contains more than 300 chemicals, including antioxidants called phenols that can help reduce LDL cholesterol levels.

Dark Chocolate

The Nutrition Advisor states that purer and darker chocolates such as Ghirardelli's 72 percent cacao baking chips can provide the most health benefits.
