Side Effects of Cetyl M

Cetyl myristoleate (Cetyl-M) is a fatty acid substance that occurs in certain animals (cows, whales, beavers, mice). According to the Physicians Desktop Reference, as a nutritional supplement, Cetyl-M is commonly used as an anti-inflammatory agent to relieve and prevent arthritis and other joint maladies. Cetyl-M is available in capsules, tablets, lotions and creams.

Allergic Response

Cetyl-M may cause a number of side effects that can be indicative of an allergic response. Adverse reactions to Cetyl-M are difficulty breathing, chest pain or tightness in the chest or throat.
In addition, skin hives or a rash may develop, and skin may become swollen or itchy. If any of these side affects occur, stop taking Cetyl-M and consult your doctor.

Side Effects

According to Drugs.com, Cetyl-M is generally well tolerated. However some gastrointestinal discomfort (stomach and intestines) may occur when taking CM Plex Softgels.

Precautions

Tell your doctor if you have a history of breast cancer, ulcers or depression, are pregnant, plan to become pregnant or are nursing before taking Cetyl-M.
Cetyl-M should not be taken by people who have liver problems.
Store Cetyl-M away from direct light and heat. It should not be kept in damp areas such as the bathroom or near the kitchen sink. Moisture or heat can cause Cetyl-M to break down and lose some of its effectiveness.
