How to Get a Flat Stomach Fast

If you tend to gain weight in the abdominal area, you may wonder how to get a flat stomach fast. Although surgeries, like a tummy tuck, can help get rid of fat in the stomach, it is not a realistic option for many. You will instead need to focus on targeting the area with plenty of exercise. Speak to your doctor before starting a new exercise plan.

Step 1

Incorporate 60 minutes of cardio exercise in your workout routine. There are certain aerobics that can especially target the abs and help you get rid of any excess fat quickly (see Resources). Rowing and using a hula hoop can especially target the abs.

Step 2

Perform exercises that focus on strengthening and flattening the stomach. Crunches involve lying flat on your back with the knees bent and then lifting your head as you tighten your abs. Perform three sets of 15 to 20 reps. Planks can also help flatten your stomach quickly. This exercise involves elevating your head and legs slightly off of the ground. Pump your arms as you push your back and ab muscles towards the floor. Aim for 100 pumps. See Resources for more on these exercises.

Step 3

Add some resistance to your workout. Use hand weights and resistance balls as you exercise to flatten your tummy quickly. Try squats with a small weight. Aim for three sets of 10 to 20 reps.

Step 4

Watch what you eat. To keep your stomach flat, you'll have to adjust your diet. Eat highly nutritious foods that will not pile on the pounds in your stomach area. These foods include whole grains, nuts, beans, vegetables, skinless chicken and turkey, non-fat milk and fruits.
