Having a polluted body and a toxic colon are main contributors to many common ailments such as constipation, frequent tiredness, low energy, gas, bloating, impaired digestion, irritability, bad breath, protruding belly, skin problems and powerful food cravings. If not cleansed and maintained on a regular basis, a toxic colon can lead to more serious problems such as colon polyps and even cancer. "Colon cleanse" or "bowel cleanse" are terms referring to a procedure (or a therapy) that has as its main goal a clean bowel. This process can take from 3 to 4 weeks up to a few months. Cleaning out your colon involves fasting, natural supplements and a parasite cleanse.
Fasting
Step 1
Fast on water, juices, raw fruits and vegetables. Your diet should be rich in fiber, both soluble and insoluble. The recommended daily amount of fiber for adults is between 20 and 35 g and can be found in fruits and vegetables.
Step 2
Avoid cooked and processed foods during the fast to keep your digestive system clear while your colon is being cleaned out.
Step 3
Consume about 1,200 to 1,400 calories a day during the fast to maintain energy. This optimum nutrition allows for rejuvenation and a healthy colon.
Improving Elimination Time and Frequency
Step 1
Consume both soluble and insoluble fiber to aid in elimination and to reduce constipation. Soluble fiber dissolves in water whereas insoluble does not. Soluble fiber is important for binding cholesterol and aiding its passage through the body. Insoluble fiber is good for improving elimination and preventing constipation.
Step 2
Consume about 1 to 2 Tbsp. of psyllium with meals once or twice daily as a natural laxative. Psyllium is a natural, water-soluble, gel-reducing fiber that is extracted from the husks of blond psyllium seeds.
Step 3
Dissolve 1 Tbsp. of flaxseeds and 1 Tbsp. of liquid bentonite clay in an 8-oz. glass of water and drink first thing in the morning and immediately before bed. Flaxseeds absorb water and expand in the colon, allowing toxins and mucus to be removed. Bentonite is a type of edible clay that acts as a bulk laxative. It binds toxins such as pesticides and helps to carry them out of the colon.
Step 4
Drink at least 64 oz. of water per day to avoid constipation.
Step 5
Perform all steps for up to 3 days to improve elimination time and frequency.
Maintaining Clean Colon with Probiotics
Step 1
Consume daily probiotic foods such as bananas, yogurt, garlic and onions. Probiotics are organisms that contribute to the health and balance of the colon. They are considered the friendly bacteria, which produce natural antibiotics that eliminate harmful bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli.
Step 2
Take two to three probiotic supplements throughout the day with an 8-oz. glass of water. A daily dosage of probiotics usually contains 2 or more billion live cells. Ensure that the capsule or tablet has a special coating to prevent the stomach from killing off the microbes located within the supplement.
Step 3
Continue to follow a daily probiotic regimen indefinitely for maintenance purposes. A healthy colon should contain at least 85 percent friendly bacteria to prevent disease.
