Bronkaid, manufactured by Bayer, is a drug used to treat breathing difficulties caused by ailments such as asthma and emphysema, according to Drugs.com. The active ingredient in this medication is ephedrine. Using Bronkaid allows a loosening of reflexes that cause extra phlegm secretions and tightening of the airways, according to BayerCare.com. RxList.com explains that prolonged usage of ephedrine-based medications can lead to dependence and other negative side effects such as tachycardia and fever. Detoxification from Bronkaid use may be necessary to restore the body back to normal functioning. Consult your physician if Bronkaid is an integral part of your health care routine. Step 1
Stop using Bronkaid. Resume Bronkaid use only if your doctor suggests returning to this medication or if you are trying to overcome a tolerance to the medication. According to Drugs.com, a user may build up a tolerance to Bronkaid, and stopping the medication for several days should resolve the problem. Three to five days without Bronkaid should be a sufficient break.
Step 2
Increase fluid intake. Drink at least 64 oz. of liquid per day, with a majority of it being caffeine-free. A detoxification diet may be performed, but according to the Mayo Clinic, these diets are not scientifically supported. Eating a healthy diet consisting of lean proteins, fresh produce, lean dairy and whole grains
Step 3
Participate in physical activity, but only if your doctor approves it. Ephedrine has been known to have cardiovascular side effects, according to RxList.com. Gradually increase your physical activity level over time. Within three to four days, the medication should no longer be in your system.
Step 4
Participate in a drug rehabilitation program if you have become addicted or dependent on Bronkaid and are not using it for a true medical condition.
