1. Turn Your Life Around
You can feel like a new person right away by eating right. You would be surprised what a toll bad food has on your body. You will look and feel better, younger and healthier. All you need to do is determine what foods you need to kick out of your diet and what foods you need to add to your diet.
2. English, Please
When you can't understand or pronounce the words on the food labels, you know something is not right. Start with tossing the foods that have big words on the labels that you've never heard of--the chemicals, the colorings, the monosodium glutamate as well as mysterious flavorings. Then weed out the foods with sugar and refined flour. And this is just the beginning. You will want to avoid caffeine, too much salt, alcohol, chocolate and stimulant foods and substances.
3. Hormones, Antibiotics, Allergens, Glutens and More Chemicals
Now learn more discrimination. Avoid those animal foods that you know have been fed hormones for rapid growth and antibiotics to suppress their diseases. Watch out for common grains, like wheat, soy and corn, sprayed with chemicals for "strong" crops and that also are common allergens and spark gluten sensitivities. Think organic and locally grown.
4. Your Body Thrives on Smart Choices
Replace the processed foods with free-range turkey (free-roaming, non-chemical and grass-fed) and other fresh whole foods. Support your local farmers, farmers markets and health food stores and health food sections of markets. Buy whole grains, nuts and seeds, and lots of fresh vegetables. Avoid cheap oils and artificial spreads and cheeses. Use virgin olive oil and try coconut oil at your health food store. Use rice and spelt flours instead of wheat, corn and soy. Buy, sort, rinse and soak black beans, limas, adzuki and other beans. Soak them until they grow a little sprout before cooking them.
5. Sea Vegetables and Healthy Condiments
Develop a taste for arame, hijiki, nori, kombu, wakame and other sea vegetables for a boost of trace minerals found in almost no other foods. Replace regular table salt with sea salt, tamari and miso (a Japanese fermented soy paste that is good for digestion). Also try ume paste that is made from a small Japanese plum for a salty zingy flavor, also good for the digestion and to keep the body alkaline.
