Memorable Grandmother Gifts

Grandmothers treasure gifts from their children and grandchildren. Gifts that keep on giving like memberships to a local museum or local amusement that can be enjoyed with other family members will create a memorable gift through shared experiences. A family trip will also give a grandmother something to remember for a long time after the event is over.

Scrapbook Gift

A scrapbook of the family's past year will be a treasured keepsake for a grandmother to keep. The book can have a page per family member per month or can be as simple as one page per month that shows several photos from that time period. Each family member can have a page with their birthday; a new baby can have a page with photos from the hospital and the first few weeks after birth.
If the family took a vacation, the pages from that month can show the highlights of the trip. An extended trip that grandmother couldn't go to could even provide enough photos and explanations to create an entire scrapbook just from the one event. Similarly, a new baby can be photographed each month throughout the year, giving the new grandmother a year-in-review style scrapbook/photo album that commemorates each milestone that she might have missed.

Family Trip

A trip to a dream location that the grandmother has always wanted to visit or even a weekend retreat to a local lake or resort will create a memorable grandmother gift. Family time can be at a premium with two parents working to make ends meet, and it's often hard for everyone to find time to share a quiet weekend. The family trip will allow this time to be scheduled.
A cruise offers plenty of events to keep everyone entertained and busy, while also leaving time for special dinners or excursions as a group. For a more relaxed, quiet trip, consider renting a cabin at the edge of a lake or at a mountain top retreat. Share meals together, take hikes, and allow grandma time to watch the grand kids swim and play. Take lots of pictures so the memory will last forever.

Cozy Evening In

Provide grandmother with the gifts that will settle her in for a cozy evening. Give her a warm blanket---possibly one embroidered with the family's name on it---and combine it with several good books or magazines and some hot cocoa, apple cider or tea. This gift will give a grandmother several nice evenings while snuggling with the blanket and sipping tea.
If she has a hard time reading, find her some of her favorite books on tape. She'll be able to listen to them whenever she wants while in the car or in the comfort of her home.

Craft Supplies Basket

A gift card to a grandmother's favorite craft store or a basket full of craft supplies will make a thoughtful gift. If grandmother likes to crochet or knit, include a new pattern book, a variety of yarns and a pack of knitting or crochet needles.
