Home drug test kits have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 1997. These kits test for a variety of both prescription and street drugs, and all require a urine sample. While some kits test for a single drug, others test for a panel of two or more. Most tests will show the user instantly whether or not a particular drug is present. To determine the amount of the drug(s) in the sample used for the test, the sample must be sent to a laboratory for further testing.

This test detects the presence of the street drug ecstasy and the prescription drugs barbiturates, benzodiazepines, methadone, oxycodone and tricyclic antidepressants. The results are available in five minutes, and test accuracy is 99 percent.
Drug Testing Network 5 Panel Quick Screen
This test detects the presence of the street drugs marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, methamphetamines and opiates. Test results are available in five minutes. Test accuracy is 95 percent.
Rapid Check 12 Multi-Drug Panel
This test detects the presence of the prescription drugs methadone, barbiturates, benzodiazepines and oxycodone, as well as marijuana, cocaine, phencyclidine (PCP), opiates, methamphetamines, amphetamines, ecstasy and propoxyphene (PPX). Test results are obtained in eight minutes, and the test kit is 98 percent accurate.
Rapid Check 10 Multi-Drug Panel
This test detects the presence of the street drugs marijuana, cocaine, phencyclidine (PCP), opiates, methamphetamines and amphetamines, as well as the prescription drugs methadone, barbiturates, benzodiazepines and tricyclic antidepressants.
