Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a problem among men that becomes more common with advanced age. Several medications on the market can be used to treat ED, the most common being Viagra, Levitra and Cialis. These drugs carry a risk of certain side effects.
Headache, Flushing and Indigestion
Headache, flushing and indigestion are frequently reported side effects while using ED medications. These side effects are considered common and should diminish after the medication wears off.
Runny Nose and Muscle Aches
Some other commonly reported side effects include runny or stuffy nose and muscle aches. They should subside following use.
Vision and Hearing Changes
Vision changes have been reported among users. One such change is termed "blue vision," where one may see a blue haze. In the event that one experiences any type of vision or hearing loss, contact your health care provider immediately.
Priapism and Hypotension
In rare cases, priapism may occur. This is an erection that lasts more than four hours and does not go away on its own. If you experience priapism, contact your practitioner immediately. If ED drugs are taken in conjunction with nitrates for chest pain, they may lead to a dangerous drop in blood pressure known as acute hypotension. Do not use nitrates while taking these medications.
