Create a Heart Healthy Diet Without Eating Meat

Program Description
A well-rounded diet has been thought to be the key to healthy living for years--although that does not always include eating meat. Despite that meat products are a common staple in the majority of diets and dining plans today, resisting the urge to eat animal protein can aid in a healthier heart and lower cholesterol.

Actions
1. Trade fatty red meat and pork for plant protein, such as beans and legumes.
2. Eliminate chicken and fish, but supplement the diet with Omega-3 Fatty Acid capsules.
3. Try other sources of protein such as egg whites, peanut butter, or even cottage cheese.
4. Eat a wide variety of colors of fruits and vegetables at every meal.
5. Instead of replacing meat with unhealthy sources of carbohydrates, turn to whole-grain foods.
