Program Description
A diet that consists of anti-inflammatory foods can have many benefits for a variety of diseases and conditions, such as cystic fibrosis, celiac disease, and arthritis. However, foods that are high in anti-inflammatory properties can also greatly help the heart, because they reduce internal inflammation of the organs.
Actions
1. Research classic anti-inflammatory diet books such as “The Zone Diet†and “Dr. Perricone’s Prescription.â€Â
2. Trade servings of beef and pork for lean servings of fish and tuna.
3. Increase intake of dark greens, avocados and vibrant berries, instead of eating starchy fruits and vegetables.
4. Decrease starchy carbohydrate intake, and replace with whole grains and fresh prepared oatmeal.
5. Eat foods as close to their natural state as possible (instead of packaged, instant, processed, or fried varieties.)
6. Indulge in small servings of low-cholesterol dairy products, such as low-fat mayonnaise, sugar-free yogurts and egg-white omelets.
7. Try to eat a handful of unsalted raw nuts every day, such as walnuts, cashews, almonds or Brazil nuts.
8. Take a daily recommended dosage of Omega-3 supplements to ensure the ingestion of healthy fats.
