How to Make a Better Life

Making a better life can mean creating a happier, healthier and more positive living experience. Making simple, small changes to your routine, family relationships and job can all help you to feel like you are living a more fulfilling and better life. If you are not happy with how your life is going, it may be time to begin creating the changes needed to make it better.

Step 1

Simplify your life. Consider downsizing your house, cutting down on the number of hours you work or buying a less expensive car so that you can spend less time paying for and more time actually living your life.

Step 2

Develop a positive outlook. Make the effort to be happy about and grateful for the things you already have so you can cultivate an optimistic outlook for your future. Wake up each morning ready to face the day head on and meet whatever challenges it holds for you to reap the benefits of a positive outlook.

Step 3

Do something that you love for a living to help you wake up each day excited about whatever will make you happiest. You could even go back to school to train in doing something you truly enjoy, or just start taking evening classes that help you pursue your passions for cooking, dance, painting or anything else you love to do.

Step 4

Invest in getting a pet for love, companionship and an exercise buddy. Take your pet for a walk every day to get exercise that helps you release endorphins, which create a feeling of fulfillment and happiness and reduce stress.

Step 5

Eat a healthier diet, as excess weight and bad health can contribute a great deal to a lower quality of life. Exercise regularly and eat healthy to not only enhance your health but also to feel better mentally and physically.

Step 6

Begin a practice of yoga and meditation. Make sure to be committed to the practices by doing them every day or at least a few times each week to reap the full health benefits and to feel a sense of peace and fulfillment in your life that is not dependent upon anything outside of yourself.

Step 7

Volunteer more. Notice the sense of fulfillment that comes from looking beyond your own needs to serve others who may be suffering around you.
