Cellulite is the buildup of fat deposits under the skin that become compressed and inflamed, causing them to bulge and press outward. This creates the pockmarked look that makes cellulite so visible. One of the most common locations to develop cellulite on your body is the back of your thighs. While cellulite can be very resilient and hard to get rid of, there are several things you can do to minimize their visibility.
Step 1
Drink a lot of water--at least 8 glasses (64 oz) each day. Keeping your cells hydrated will also keep them fuller, and the cellulite bumps won't look so dramatic.
Step 2
Eat fruits and vegetables high in collagen and water content. Most plant material is high in collagen, a key nutrient for skin and cells in general. The water content of fruits and vegetables will also help hydrate your cells, and the vitamins and minerals will keep your skin healthy.
Step 3
Wear pantyhose out, and even around the house. While the hose itself makes the cellulite harder to see, it has a healing effect by pressing down on top of the cellulite bumps. This helps to ease the inflammation and increases blood circulation to the fat deposits, making them easier to break down, and it will reduce the visibility of cellulite over the long run and could help it disappear.
Step 4
Apply a topical lotion or moisturizing cream high in collagen and elastin. These are essential compounds for cells and help your skin cells look healthier and more full. They also have a similar effect as water on your thighs by reducing the visibility of cellulite bumps.
