Lexapro belongs to a class of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Serotonin Syndrome
Serotonin syndrome is a serious condition requiring an immediate phone call to your doctor. A serious side effect of Lexapro, its symptoms include confusion, diarrhea, vomiting and nausea. Changes in your blood pressure are also signs of this condition, as is a fever accompanied by sweating. Additional symptoms include agitation, a rapid or irregular heart beat, hallucinations and seizures.
Additional Reasons for Concern
Lexapro may produce additional side effects that are serious and may pose a risk to your health. Therefore, they need to be reported immediately o your physician. These side effects include thoughts of suicide or suicidal behavior, displaying hostile or aggressive behavior, an inability to sit still and chest palpitations. Changes in your moods from euphoria to depression, also known as mood cycling, are very serious and should not be ignored.
