Many women, large and small, suffer from cellulite deposits around the body. Cellulite, the fat deposits that cause the dimpled appearance of skin on the buttocks, arms, thighs and hips, is caused by restrictive clothing, improper diet, lack of exercise, hormonal imbalances and genetics. Although there are many treatments for cellulite including Endermologie, you may prefer to hide cellulite rather than undergoing expensive treatments that may or may not be effective. You can successfully hide cellulite, or minimize its appearance, with a few simple techniques.

Step 1

Wear loose pants or jeans to effectively hide your cellulite. Tight clothing accentuates cellulite and draws other people's eyes toward your imperfections. Stay away from "skinny" or hip-hugger jeans and pants and buy relaxed-fit jeans or pants that are one to two sizes larger than your usual size.

Step 2

Wear dark-colored tights under short skirts to hide cellulite. This works best when you wear a black skirt over black tights, but other dark-color combinations can work, such as gray and black, dark green and black and chocolate brown and black.

Step 3

Wear long, flowing skirts and dresses to hide cellulite. If you want to show a little skin, choose a calf-length skirt or dress.

Step 4

Wrap a cover-up or sarong around your bathing suit bottom while you are at a public pool or beach. Try bikini bottoms in boy short style or ones with attached skirts to hide more cellulite than the traditional, high-cut bikini bottoms.

Step 5

Replace short shorts with capri pants or knee-length shorts.

Step 6

Use self-tanner to cover up your cellulite. Purchase a high-quality self-tanner and spray it onto your inner and outer thighs, or other concentrated cellulite problem area, first. Let dry for 15 to 20 minutes. Then, spray the self-tanner over your entire leg and buttocks area, carefully avoiding your genitals. Allow to dry thoroughly, for 30 minutes or more, before putting on clothing.

Step 7

Use a temporary toning method to minimize your cellulite's appearance under your clothing. According to dermatologist Dr. Ava Shamban, caffeine may help cellulite look smoother because it reduces some of the edema, or swelling, that is present around the fat deposits. You can use the caffeine in used coffee grounds to counteract the swelling around your own cellulite. Add enough water to a batch of used coffee grounds to make a thick paste. Rub the paste over the affected area. Wrap heavy-duty plastic wrap around the area and rest for 15 to 30 minutes. Remove the wrap and shower thoroughly. This method generally lasts for one to two days.

Step 8

Wear shawls over spaghetti-strap dresses and dressy tank tops when attending formal events.

Step 9

Wear three-quarter-length button-up shirts over tank tops for casual events.

Things You'll Need
