Most women gain 25 to 35 pounds during pregnancy. A lot of women lose most of that baby weight by around six months after giving birth. The hardest weight to lose after having a baby is usually the belly fat. There are some simple yet not commonly known techniques which can help women lose the belly fat gained during pregnancy.
Steps to Getting Back Your Pre-Pregnancy Belly
Step 1
Breastfeed your baby instead of bottle-feeding in order to lose belly fat quickly. According to the website Pregnancy.org, breastfeeding releases a hormone called oxytocin into the bloodstream. Oxytocin helps to shrink the uterus back to pre-pregnancy size quickly. When the uterus is swollen, it causes a large, bloated-looking belly. When the uterus shrinks back to size, women can achieve a flat stomach easier. Therefore, women who breastfeed tend to have slimmer tummies than those who don't breastfeed.
Step 2
Exercise using high intensive interval training (HIIT) three times each week. The American Council on Exercise states that high intensity interval training causes a greater fat loss than exercise for a long period of time at a low duration. Start each exercise session with a five- to 10-minute warm up. Next, whether you are jogging, using an elliptical trainer or cycling, go as fast as you can for 30 seconds to one minute. Follow that interval with two to three minutes at a light to moderate intensity. Repeat these intervals for a total of six to 10 intervals each and do this three times every week.
Step 3
Move around in your daily routines as often as you can. While cooking dinner, do some squats. If you get a phone call, walk around the house while talking on the phone instead of sitting still. The more movement you can add into your day, the more calories you will burn, which will ultimately help you lose belly fat
Step 4
Eat a cup of low fat or fat free yogurt every day. Dr. Nicholas Perricone explains on Oprah's website that the calcium content in yogurt may be one of the reasons that it seems to help people lose weight. He states that people who eat yogurt not only lose more weight than those who don't eat yogurt, but they also lose more weight around their midsection and belly.
