Both Cialis and Viagra are phosphodiesterase inhibitors. They interfere with the phosphodiesterase enzyme, so that the muscles of your penis relaxes. This allows for your penis to receive increased blood flow. An erection results.

Side Effects

According to Drugs.com, Viagra and Cialis share the same common side effects. These medications can cause a headache, nasal congestion, back pain and stomach problems.

Warning

You should avoid combining Cialis and Viagra with nitrates. These are medications used to treat chest pain (angina). The combination can cause extremely low blood pressure.

Other Uses

Another form of Viagra can be used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension, a disease in which your lung blood vessels are constricted. This leads to high blood pressure in that region.

The generic name for Cialis is tadalafil. The generic name for Viagra is sildenafil.
