Having excess weight can cause many health problems. The most common include cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and increased chance of experiencing a heart attack or stroke. Being overweight can also put you at high risk of developing diabetes. Eating healthy, exercising and losing weight can prevent these illnesses. However, losing weight can be difficult. Some people use diet pills to achieve weight loss. Like all medications, diet pills can cause harmful side effects and can be costly. You can effectively and easily lose weight, however, without diet pills.

Step 1

Drink 1 to 2 liters of clean drinking water every day to lose weight. Drinking enough water will help your body metabolize fat. Several fat-soluble toxins are flushed out when fat is burned and you need plenty of water to eliminate them. Additionally, drinking enough water will keep your skin hydrated and moist.

Step 2

Cut down or avoid eating foods that are high in saturated fats and cholesterol. These foods include sugary pastries, deep-fried foods, sugary drinks and processed meats, all of which are fattening and, when consumed regularly, can be dangerous to your health. These types of foods can cause heart disease, liver problems and other unwanted ailments.

Step 3

Add more natural foods to your diet daily to lose weight. Processed foods contain harmful chemicals, additives and are high in sodium. These substances can damage your liver, which is the primary organ for burning fats. When your liver is overloaded with these substances, its function to burn fats will decrease causing more weight gain. Consume more unprocessed foods such as raw vegetables and fruits, whole grains, seeds and nuts help promote liver function.

Step 4

Add 2 to 3 ounces of healthy protein to all your meals. Any kind of food you consume will create a thermic effect and slightly boost your metabolism rate. Adding more protein to your diet will raise your metabolic rate compared to just eating foods that are composed of fats or carbohydrates. In addition, eating enough protein will help you build and maintain muscle mass. Healthy foods rich in protein include tofu, nuts, seeds, whole grains and milk.

Step 5

Do cardio exercises such as running, cycling, jogging or aerobics for 1 hour every day to lose weight. Doing these types of exercises along with eating a healthy diet will help you effectively lose unwanted pounds. Make sure you consult your doctor before beginning any exercise program.
