How to Stop Natural Hair Growth

Growth of unwanted hair can be controlled through painful waxing and plucking, or the use of creams. Shaving is another way to control hair, but will need to be done often and can result in ingrown hairs and irritation. There are ways to permanently remove hair, but it will take time. Electrolysis will stop hair growth through the application of heat and/or electrical current to the root of hairs, but you will need several treatments. You can also try a hair growth inhibitor product by Kalo, as recommended by SkinXpert.com.

Kalo

Step 1

Remove all unwanted hair from the area from which you wish to see hair permanently gone. Have it waxed or use a home body-sugaring remedy with natural ingredients (see the Resource section below). Tweeze the area if you prefer or if it is a small amount or hair, but do not simply shave, as it is necessary for the hairs to be pulled out of the follicles for Kalo to work, according to the manufacturer's website.

Step 2

Spread a layer of Kalo Inhibitor lotion onto the area, or spray on the Inhibitor spray, as recommended by SkinXpert.com. Repeat two more times later in the day.

Step 3

Apply the Kalo inhibitor product three times the following day as well.

Step 4

Use Kalo again after your next hair removal. Allow the hair to grow 1/4 inch before waxing, tweezing or sugaring so the hair is long enough to be grabbed and pulled out.

Electrolysis

Step 1

Schedule a consultation with an electrologist. Discuss the area you wish hair to be removed from and come up with a treatment schedule based on how much hair you need removed and where. The electrologist will tell you how many sessions you will need and how often.

Step 2

Book your first session for electrolysis or get it done after your consultation. Sessions usually last 15 to 30 minutes, according to A&A Laser, Electrolysis and Skin Care Associates.

Step 3

Apply a cold compress after treatment to reduce swelling, as recommended by A&A Laser, Electrolysis and Skin Care Associates. Apply salt and warm water mixed into a paste to the treated area twice a day for two days after the area has been treated. Leave the paste on for three minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Step 4

Trim hairs that grow back in the treated area with scissors, but do not pluck or remove them. Some hair will grow back and there must be enough of it to see if it is to be treated with electrolysis at your next appointment.

Step 5

Continue to get treatments as scheduled until your hair is gone for good.
