Clearasil sells a full line of over-the-counter skin care products for acne problems. The product line consists of various cleansers, scrubs, wipes and pads, treatment creams and spot treatment pimple pens for different skin types. Two of the active ingredients found in Clearasil products are salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, both of which help clear the pores, dry up pimples and reduce the occurrence of new pimples. You can use one Clearasil product or multiple products in your daily skin care routine.
Step 1
Choose which Clearasil products are right for your skin by going to Clearasil's website and filling out the "Create Your Daily Routine" questionnaire. Purchase Clearasil products online or in your local drugstore.
Step 2
Wash your face twice a day with a Clearasil Face Wash or Scrub. To use the cleanser or scrub, gently massage a nickel-sized amount of the product onto your wet face. Avoid getting the product in your eyes. Rinse your face thoroughly.
Step 3
Cleanse your pores by wiping your facial skin with Clearasil Cleansing Pads or Wipes after you wash your face and whenever your face feels oily. Rinsing is not needed after using the cleansing pads.
Step 4
Dab Clearasil Treatment Cream on your pimples or apply the cream over your entire face, avoiding the eye area, to reduce oiliness and dry, dissolve blackheads and dry up pimples. Use the treatment cream morning and night after cleansing.
Step 5
Target pimples directly with the Clearasil Pimple Blocker Pen. To use the pen, remove the cap and turn the bottom of the pen, near the applicator tip, to release a small amount of the product. Rub the applicator tip directly on your pimple. To reduce skin irritation, use the Pimple Blocker Pen only once a day for the first week. After the first week, use the pen up to two to three times a day, if desired.
Tips and Warnings
- Acne skin care products may cause skin dryness, redness and irritation. If the symptoms become bothersome, the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology advises decreasing the frequency of application to every other day or twice a week.
