Foot care is extremely important and requires a bit of diligence and care. Your feet literally take the brunt of your weight every day and depending on weather and conditions, may require extra care in dry summer months, or during wet weather conditions in order to promote good foot health. To keep your feet in tip top shape, they need to be kept clean and fresh. One of the ways that you can do this is to remove dead skin from your feet on a regular basis. Several products are available to help you do that task.

Pumice Stone

Purchase a pumice stone or pumice file from your local drugstore and get into the habit of literally 'sanding' your feet. In the winter months, you can exfoliate dead skin cells from the feet on a weekly basis, though in summertime, and especially if you want around barefoot, you can do this every day.

Exfoliating Scrubs

Products like Olay Thermal Pedicure offer a warming scrub for the feet. Or you may make your own exfoliating scrub. Common ingredients in such scrubs include bits of sand or pumice. The scrub is rubbed onto the foot surface to help scrape away dead foot cells. Soothing lotions, such as cocoa butter or shea butter, moisten the skin.

Ped Egg

Ped Egg offers a variety of micro-files that can be used on the feet on a daily basis. The surface of the Ped Egg is rough, allowing the consumer to gently remove dead skin cells from the surface of the foot without digging too deeply into the skin. Dead skin cells are collected in the egg for a no-mess foot care session.

Epsom Salt

Epsom salt is a simple and inexpensive way that you can exfoliate your feet at home by yourself. Take a handful of the salt and simply massage your feet with it several times a week. You may have even better results by soaking your feet in warm basin of water for about 10 to 15 minutes first. When you are done, dump the salt you just used into the water basin and enjoy a soothing, rejuvenating soak.

Heel Smoothers

Battery or electric heel smoothers offer a quick and safe way to remove dead skin from the pads, heels and sides of the feet. Products like the Artemis Woman Heel Smoother is recommended by podiatrists and is also an accepted product of the American Podiatric Medical Association, according to beauty experts at iVillage.
