How to Get Rid of Warts With Duct Tape

Warts are non-cancerous growths that appear on the skin. They are the direct result of the human papillomavirus (HPV) and they take on the appearance of the top of a cauliflower head. Treatments for warts involve freezing, surgical removal, medications and injections. The Mayo Clinic notes that the duct tape method may be less frightening for children than freezing or surgical removal. You can do this inexpensive, noninvasive duct tape treatment at home.

Step 1

Wash the skin around the wart with soap and water. Dry the area thoroughly. Rip off a piece of duct tape that will completely cover the area. Place the tape on the skin and flatten it out so there is a comfortable fit.

Step 2

Leave the duct tape on your skin for six days in a row. Immediately replace the tape if it falls off.

Step 3

Remove the duct tape from your skin and soak the body part in warm water until your skin softens. Run a pumice stone over the top of the wart to remove skin cells. Dry the skin and apply a fresh piece of duct tape.

Step 4

Repeat Steps 1 to 3 until the wart is gone. This can take up to eight weeks.

Things You'll Need
