Top Ten Wrinkle Creams

Wrinkle creams run the gamut in pricing, ingredients, packaging and ease of use. Some are timeless favorites, and others use new technology to combat an age-old problem. Finding unbiased reviews of wrinkle creams amid the marketing hype can be difficult, but the Mayo Clinic provides guidelines on what to look for in a wrinkle cream, which can help wade through the marketing to identify those wrinkle creams that contain proven ingredients.

Tretinoin

The United States Food and Drug Administration has approved only one cream for combating wrinkles--tretinoin. This cream is sold by prescription under numerous brand names, depending on the strength, application method and manufacturer. Brand names include Renova, Retin-A and Avita.

Prototype #37-C

The Mayo Clinic notes that copper peptides are one of a number of ingredients that aid in combating wrinkles. Prototype #37-C contains a 99 percent concentration of peptides.

Prevera

One of the cheaper options, Prevera contains six peptide compounds to help combat your wrinkles. It also contains antioxidants, another compound that the Mayo Clinic notes helps to combat wrinkles.

Secratatropin HGH

The ingredients in Secratatropin HGH work to stimulate your pituitary gland to increase human growth hormone. The goal is to increase the skin's thickness, which tends to thin with age, thus minimizing wrinkles.

Strivectin SD

The proprietary nature of Strivectin SD makes it difficult to know how best to use it--the frequency, amount and area. However, this cream includes elastins and moisturizers, both of which the Mayo Clinic says are effective.

Dermavisu

Formulated as a long-term solution, Dermavisu penetrates beyond the top layers of skin to produce results. It takes some patience, but the serum nourishes deep within the skin to reduce permanent wrinkles and remove fine lines.

Olay Regenerist Serum

Using concentrated peptides and B vitamins, Olay Regenerist deeply hydrates. It focuses primarily on the eye area.

Prevage

Made by skin care line Elizabeth Arden, Prevage focuses on combating lines caused by pollution and the sun. The cream uses antioxidants to do so, which are noted by the Mayo Clinic as proven wrinkle fighters.

Lipovox

Lipovox bases its wrinkle-reducing power on the concept of superfoods. It includes green tea extracts as well as antioxidants, both of which, the Mayo Clinic notes, are critical in minimizing the appearance of fine lines.

Kinetin Creams

The Mayo Clinic also notes the research showing promise for kinetin as reducing wrinkles. While it's unclear precisely why this plant growth factor works, it appears to smooth fine lines and minimize uneven pigmentation.
