Many of us struggle on a daily basis to lose weight, especially in the abdominal area. Foods high in fiber can produce more volume so you feel full faster, and they also require more time to digest properly than other foods, which lets you keep that full feeling longer. Soluble fiber found in oatmeal, lentils and beans dissolves in water and helps move toxins out of the body. Insoluble fiber found in whole grains, seeds, carrots, and zucchini help bind estrogen and move it out for better hormonal balance.
Foods that Promote Hormonal Balance
Excess estrogen in the body is a major cause of extra belly fat. Hormonal balance is key for optimal metabolism. Eating foods such as broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus and other cruciferous vegetables provide the body with indole-3-carbinol. Olive oil, avocados and macadamia nuts are just a few of the foods you can incorporate into your diet for fat-burning effects. Almonds are also a good option since they not only have healthy fat, but also are high in fiber and vegetable protein. To curb hunger, add a couple of tbsp. of sunflower seeds to any salad.
Foods Rich in Enzymes
Raw foods are chock full of enzymes. Papaya and pineapple, however, are especially good to eat at mealtime because the enzymes they supply can break down dietary proteins. This action gives the liver and pancreas a break since they aren't triggered to produce protein-digesting enzymes. Giving the body cellular enzymes through these fruits and other raw foods allow the pancreas and liver to better eliminate more toxins and convert stored fat into energy.
