Home Remedy to Tighten Skin

There are several ways skin can become loose and sagging. The most common reasons are pregnancy and weight loss, when the body's mass contracts faster than the skin can acclimate, resulting in looser skin and possibly stretch marks. But skin also tends to get looser and less elastic as people age. There are a few things you can do to keep your skin healthy and tighten it without resorting to surgery.

Step 1

Exercise three to five times a week, doing an aerobic exercise. Sweating helps keep skin healthy and elastic, and the workout stimulates the production of new muscle fibers, creating new locations for the skin to connect to the muscle and hold firm.

Step 2

Work out the muscle groups directly beneath any loose skin using free weights or weight machines.

Step 3

Use moisturizing lotion at least once daily. Moisture helps keep skin elastic.

Step 4

Drink at least eight glasses (64 oz.) of water each day to hydrate your skin cells.

Step 5

Decelerate your weight loss, if you are on a diet, to allow time for your skin to adapt.
