Ketoconazole can increase the risk for liver damage, so alcohol abusers and liver disease sufferers should avoid ketoconazole at all costs. This medication can interact with clopidogrel and omeprazole and reduce ketoconazole's effectiveness.

Fluconazole
Fluconazole is another antifungal antibiotic used to address ringworm. According to Drugs.com, fluconazole also treats fungal infections of the throat, mouth, esophagus, bladder and lungs.
Fluconazole's side effects include a headache, dizziness, vomiting, stomach problems and nausea. Seizures, easy bleeding or bruising, weakness, peeling red skin, dark-colored urine and yellowing of the skin are fluconazole's other side effects.
This medication is a liquid or tablet taken daily as directed.
