Knowing you are pregnant isn't always as easy as missing your period, although that is a fairly good indicator. For some, especially those whose periods are not regular, it takes additional symptoms to confirm their suspicions that a bundle of joy is on the way. If you are among the women who need some hardcore evidence, there are signs that should leave you feeling certain about your impending motherhood.
Implantation Bleeding
Implantation bleeding occurs when the fertilized egg attaches to the uterine wall, as stated by the Mayo Clinic. It varies from your monthly period in that it is sporadic, thus earning the nickname "spotting," and is pink in color rather than red. It also begins approximately a week prior to your period, which is 10 to 14 days after conception.
MIssed Menses
A missed menses may be the most obvious sign of pregnancy, especially if you record your cycles and are regular. A menses that is late by one or two days may not be much to worry about, but if you have waited a week or more, chances are an embryo has taken residence in your uterus.
Morning Sickness
Morning sickness may be one of the first signs you experience, as it can begin the first week after your first missed period. Unpleasant smells or odors can trigger it, or it may occur for no explicable reason. It may be a nagging nausea, or a combination of both nausea and vomiting. Prepare yourself to expect the unexpected with this symptom; it can strike at any time.
Breast Soreness
Breast tenderness is not just another common symptom of pregnancy, it is also a typical symptom that occurs during the menstrual cycle for some women. It begins almost immediately and is because of the rapid increase of both estrogen and progesterone in your body.
You may also experience swelling of your breasts. If your period is not regular, this symptom along with morning sickness may be the best signs of pregnancy for you.
