Wrinkles are a part of the natural aging process. As your skin loses its elasticity and thins out, fine lines and wrinkles become more apparent. Smoking and sun exposure can speed up the appearance of wrinkles. On the forehead, wrinkles appear in one of two ways, either as vertical rows above the nose or horizontal lines across the entire forehead area. Continual contraction of the forehead muscles cause the wrinkles to appear.
Step 1
Keep your skin well moisturized. Keep the skin supple by applying a moisturizing cream to the entire face each morning. Choose a brand that has built in sun protection with a SPF 15 or higher.
Step 2
Make an appointment with a plastic surgeon or cosmetic dermatologist to go over your treatment options. Receive a referral from your doctor to set up a visit to discuss getting rid of your forehead wrinkles.
Step 3
Receive injections into the muscles of the forehead. Botox injections help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the forehead. Repeat injections are needed every three to six months to maintain the appearance.
Step 4
Undergo non-invasive procedures to get rid of forehead wrinkles. A chemical peel and laser resurfacing can be done to get rid of wrinkles on the face. If you choose to get a chemical peel, an acidic solution is applied to the face to get rid of the top layers of skin. Laser resurfacing uses a highly concentrated laser to destroy skin cells and generate new growth in the area. Multiple treatments for both of these procedures may be required to completely get rid of forehead wrinkles.
Step 5
Consider plastic surgery. If all else fails, you may want to go through with a brow lift. During a brow lift, the skin will be pulled tighter to smooth out lines that appear on the forehead.
Tips and Warnings
- Since forehead wrinkles are usually deep, topical retinoids are usually not a recommended treatment method. They are usually only prescribed for fine lines and rough patches of skin.
