Temporary shortness of breath is a common side effect of Fioricet. This is usually mild and wears off within several hours. The butalbital in the product is responsible for this effect.
Vomiting
Nausea and vomiting can occur. You may also experience pain in the stomach area. Less commonly, patients notice heartburn, constipation, intestinal gas, dry mouth or trouble swallowing.
Dizziness
Fioricet can cause dizziness and lightheadedness. If this occurs, try to drive or perform crucial tasks. An increased heart rate, fever, sweating and urinating more than usual are also side effects.
Sedation
Some patients report that they feel sedated when they take this drug. Similarly, others describe feeling drowsy or tired. Muscles may seem weak, or the legs may hurt. You may also feel drunk. Depression

The caffeine component can cause excitement, anxiety, nervousness and the inability to sleep. Some patients notice irritability or tremors. The risk of these side effects is especially high if you ingest caffeine in other ways, such as coffee or energy drinks, in addition to taking this medication. Elderly people may be more susceptible to these effects.
Liver Problems
The acetaminophen component of this medicine can cause liver problems when the drug is taken in high doses or for a long period. Liver failure and death can occur. The risk of liver problems is elevated in patients who consume alcohol or don't eat enough to meet their body's requirements.
