Pureology stands out from other haircare products, claiming to be an all-natural, 100-percent vegan haircare line. Pureology is formulated without many of the harsher ingredients contained in regular shampoos.
Price and Availability
Only authorized retailers, typically salons and spas, can sell Pureology. As of January 2010, a 10.1-oz. bottle had a suggested retail price of $27.
Sulfate-Free
Pureology shampoo does not contain sulfates, such as sodium lauryl sulfate, which are found in most regular shampoos and may have harsh effects on the scalp.
Formulas
Pureology shampoo is available in different formulas for different types of hair. The Pureology PureVolume System contains ingredients such as papaya and lavender to create volume, while the EssentialRepair system contains olive oil to restore hair health.
Salon Treatments
Pureology has products for before-color treatment, after-color treatment, repairing treatment and radiance renewal treatment. Salons selling Pureology shampoo may also have these professional treatments available.
Specialty Care
In addition to volumizing and hydrating shampoos, Pureology also has a dandruff shampoo in its DandruffScalpCure line that contains 2 percent pyrithione zinc. According to Drugs.com, pyrithione zinc is an antiseborrheic, which slows the production of skin cells and reduces flakiness.
