Deep pore cleansing is a skin care regimen that is beneficial to anyone who has pores that are filled up with dried oil and dead skin cells. When the skin is clean, pores act like an open door through which nourishing skin creams can enter. Debris left inside the pores is a closed door that one can open through deep pore cleansing.

Step 1

Remove surface dirt and oils from your skin using a skin cleanser made for facial cleansing. Wet the face with warm water first, then spread a small amount of cleanser over your skin, keeping your eyes closed while doing so. Rinse the cleanser from the skin, and blot dry with a clean terrycloth towel.

Step 2

Sprinkle toner on a cotton pad and gently wipe the skin with moistened cotton pad. Stay away from the eye area when wiping your face with toner.

Step 3

Remove the dead skin on your face to clear the way for better extraction when deep pore cleansing. Apply an exfoliant to your skin and follow the steps given on the product label.

Step 4

Open up the pores by saturating a face towel with very warm water. Make sure that the water is not so hot that it can burn your skin. Wring the face towel out well, then open it up and place it over your face by covering your chin with the middle section of the towel and crossing the ends of the towel over your eyes so that the whole face is covered, except for the nostrils. Leave the towel on your face until it cools, and then apply two more warm wet towels in succession. Steam your face over a bowl of very warm water, if you prefer this method, but do not use warm wet towels if you do. Make sure that the temperature of the water is not so hot that it emits steam strong enough to burn your skin. If it feels comfortable, hold your face 12 inches away from the water with a towel draped over your head so the steam does not escape. Steam your face over the bowl of water for five minutes.

Step 5

Wind a cotton strip around each forefinger, making sure to cover the tips of your fingers with the cotton strip. Apply pressure to each clogged pore, pimple or blackhead by pressing the tips of your forefingers down on the skin and in towards the pore until dried oils or pus comes out of the pore. Do this to all of the pores that need cleansing.

Step 6

Sprinkle a cotton pad with toner and wipe the face with it, avoiding the eye area.

Step 7

Use a clay mask to finish deep pore cleansing by following the instructions given by the manufacturer of the product.

Step 8

Remove the mask and wipe the face clean, first with a wet cotton pad, and then with a cotton pad that has been sprinkled with toner.
