Acne can appear on any part of the body, including the face, arms, legs, back and chest. When acne occurs around the thigh area, especially on the inner part of the thigh, it can be difficult to treat without irritating the skin. That's because the skin in the thigh area is more sensitive than the skin surrounding it. To effectively treat acne on the inner thighs, wash, medicate and moisturize the skin correctly.
Step 1
Wash the inner thigh area with a soap designed for sensitive skin types. This will clean the skin without irritating it. Wet the thighs well with water, and lather up your hands using a sensitive skin soap. Spread the lather onto your thighs, being careful not to scrub or rub the lather in too aggressively. Rinse off the thighs with water. Repeat two times per day.
Step 2
Apply a low-concentration benzoyl peroxide cream to the inner thighs, which will clear acne without causing side effects such as redness or burning. Squeeze a dime-sized amount of 2.5 percent benzoyl peroxide cream onto your fingers, and gently spread the cream onto the affected thigh areas. Glide your fingers gently over the skin until the cream has absorbed. Repeat two times per day after washing the thighs.
Step 3
Moisturize the inner thighs with an oil-free moisturizer, which will properly hydrate the skin without reclogging the pores. Squirt a dime-sized amount of an oil-free moisturizer onto your thighs, and use your fingers to lightly massage in the moisturizer. Avoid rubbing the lotion in too deeply, which can irritate the skin. Repeat two times per day after using the benzoyl peroxide cream.
Tips and Warnings
- Soaps for sensitive skin will be free of artificial oils, perfumes or dyes that could irritate the skin around the inner thighs. Select a soap free of chemicals and created from basic ingredients such as olive and coconut oil. Benzoyl peroxide is available in different strengths, including 2.5 percent, 5 percent and 10 percent. For delicate skin on the inner thighs, use only the lowest-strength benzoyl peroxide cream. Using an oil-free moisturizer keeps the skin on the inner thighs properly hydrated, preventing it from drying out from the benzoyl peroxide cream.
