How to Get Rid of Blemishes Without Buying Products

Blemishes--records of your skin's interaction with the world--are a normal part of life. It would be odd not to have them. Nevertheless, they are often unsightly. By taking care of your body and your skin in specific ways at home, however, you may be able to fade unwanted blemishes without having to spend a dime in the drugstore.

Step 1

Drink water. When your body is hydrated, your skin is too, and hydrated skin is more supple and better able to repair itself, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Avoid taking long, hot showers, which dry skin further. And if you have thick moisturizing cream at home, apply it to the skin around your blemishes when skin is moist.

Step 2

Eat foods rich in vitamin A and C (citrus fruits), vitamin E and zinc (nuts and seeds), and protein (nuts and meat). Fortifying your body with these nutrients can help skin rejuvenate, the Cleveland Clinic says.

Step 3

Exercise. Physical activity ramps up the body's internal repair mechanisms, according to a study published in Sports Medicine in 2009 by JP Morton and colleagues. This could help your body heal scars and blemishes more quickly.
