How to Get Rid of Fat & Cellulite

Fat and cellulite can be a hindrance to your self-esteem and overall physical fitness. Both may result from a lack of physical activity, a side effect of medication, poor nutritional habits, stress and even genetics. Fat can form in various parts of the body while cellulite, fat under the skin that appears dimpled, tends to mostly appear on the hips, thighs and rear end. Fortunately, removing fat and cellulite can be combated together by improving your dietary habits and engaging in physical activity.

Step 1

Participate in cardio exercise for at least 30 minutes per day for five to seven days per week. Cardio exercise can include swimming, cycling, running, an aerobics class or your favorite team sport. Cardio exercise helps to burn calories, which will reduce your overall body fat and amount of cellulite.

Step 2

Execute 30 to 45 minutes of strength training for each major muscle group (arms, shoulders, back, stomach, legs) in the body two to three times per week. Strength training builds more lean muscle tissue; muscle tissue helps to burn body fat, reduce the appearance of cellulite and tone the muscle in the body.

Step 3

Reduce fat and sugar intake in your daily diet to reduce fat and cellulite. Read the label on the packaging of food products to determine how much fat, saturated fat and sugar a serving size contains. Look for fat-free, reduced-fat and sugar-free options of your favorite foods to avoid adding more body fat and cellulite.

Step 4

Eat the appropriate amount of protein each day. According to Shape Fit, 1 g of protein per pound of your weight is a reasonable daily goal for protein consumption. Protein helps to repair muscles after strength training and will assist your body in growing new muscle fibers. Try eating protein bars, adding protein powder to a fruit smoothie or eat lean skinless chicken breast with dinner.

Step 5

Drink water instead of soda, coffee and sugary fruit drinks. According to Shape Fit, water helps you stay hydrated and reduces the appearance of cellulite. Replacing your high-calorie drinks with water also will help you remove excess body fat.
