How to Make Wrinkle Creams

Wrinkles on the skin are a normal part of aging, but you probably want to diminish these signs of aging by using creams to plump up and smooth out wrinkles. Unfortunately, many of the over-the-counter wrinkle creams can contain chemical ingredients that can irritate and inflame the skin, such as petroleum, mineral oil and artificial perfumes. Luckily, you can create your own wrinkle cream at home to deeply hydrate your skin, without causing irritation on the skin.

Step 1

Heat 16 oz. of olive oil. Pour the oil into a handled pot, and heat it over medium heat. Stir the oil constantly with a wooden spoon so that it does not scorch. Place a glass candy thermometer into the pot to gauge the temperature.

Step 2

Heat 8 oz. of beeswax in a double boiler over medium heat. Place the beeswax into the top part of a double boiler, and fill the bottom part of the double boiler one-third full of water. Heat the beeswax gradually, stirring the wax until it melts. Place a glass thermometer into the wax to gauge the temperature.

Step 3

Combine the oil and beeswax in the blender when both of the substances reach 100 degrees F. Blend the mixture on medium for five minutes.

Step 4

Add in 4 oz. of aloe vera gel, 2 oz. of vitamin E oil, 1 oz. of rose hip oil, 10 drops of rose essential oils, and 5 drops of chamomile essential oil. Blend the mixture again for 10 minutes to fully incorporate the ingredients.

Step 5

Pour the wrinkle cream into glass jars. Place a funnel into the opening of each glass jar, then carefully pour the mixture into each jar. Leave at least 1/4 inch empty at the top of each jar, and place the jars onto a flat surface to cool completely. Once cool, place the lids onto the jars, and refrigerate them until they are ready to use.

Tips and Warnings

  • Heating the olive oil and beeswax to the same temperature will allow them combine without causing the substances to separate. Olive oil, rose hip oil, and vitamin E oil are highly emollient oils that are deeply hydrating to the skin, and can be helpful in keeping wrinkled skin moisturized. Aloe vera gel is highly soothing to the skin, and can calm irritation, inflammation and redness that can exacerbate wrinkles.
