4 Ways to Cure Gout

1. Reduce Protein Intake

Consuming excessive amounts of protein is one of the most common causes of gout. The extra protein in the blood leads to a rise in uric acid levels in the body. When uric acid levels rise, the body produces crystals from the acid that settle into the cartilage surrounding one or more joints, usually the big toe. The body then produces an inflammatory response to the crystals, which leads to intense pain, redness and swelling around the affected joint. Reducing the intake of protein will reduce levels of uric acid in the blood over time, which will eventually cure the gout.

2. Eliminate High-Fructose Corn Syrup

High-fructose corn syrup is present in virtually every commercial baked good on the market today. It is also a heavily used sweetener in soft drinks, bottled juices and candy. Like protein, high-fructose corn syrup can cause the levels of uric acid in the body to rise, leading to gout. Eliminating it from the diet can bring about a gradual cure. However, avoiding high-fructose corn syrup in mainstream foods can be a challenge. It's necessary to read the labels carefully on any processed food that you are considering purchasing. Many people with gout have found that they need to do most of their shopping at health-food stores in order to avoid this common ingredient.

3. Take Some Black Bean Broth

Black beans have naturally occurring anthocyanins, which are antioxidant compounds that are known to dissolve the uric acid crystals that cause gout. Boil 2 cups of dried black beans in enough water to cover them. As soon as the water turns black, strain off the beans and fill up a cup with the broth. Drink it straight without adding any salt or other flavorings to it. Black bean broth usually works very rapidly to clear up uric acid crystals, so if it is going to work for you, you should start to feel results within two to four hours of drinking the broth.

4. Use Apple Cider Vinegar

Pure apple cider vinegar also dissolves uric acid crystals and has been shown in anecdotal studies to be effective as a cure for gout. Mix equal amounts of raw honey, distilled water and organic apple cider vinegar. The vinegar must still have its natural enzyme strands in it, also known as "the mother." These strands should be plainly visible in the vinegar. Take this mixture twice a day at the first sign of an attack of gout. If it is going to work for you, it will usually eliminate the symptoms in one to two days.
