How to Remove Unwanted Back Hair

Back hair is a problem that most commonly affects men. Because the back can be hard to reach on your own, you should ideally have someone help you get rid of the unwanted hair. Choose from a variety of methods to remove hair from your back--some last longer than others, and some are easier or less painful than others. If your back hair is a continual problem, consider treatments to remove the hair permanently.

Step 1

Shave your back. Shaving is the least expensive method, but only provides temporary results. Lather the back with a shaving solution and shave in the direction of the natural hair growth.

Step 2

Apply a depilatory. Depilatories usually provide longer lasting results than shaving. A depilatory dissolves the hair with chemicals. Apply the solution over the skin in a thin layer and then rinse away after a couple of minutes. Some brand examples you can try include Gigi Hair Removal Cream and Lex Advanced Depilatory Cream.

Step 3

Wax off the back hair. You can make an appointment at a spa for a professional waxing job or use a home kit. Hot or cold wax is placed on the back with adhesive strips on top of it. The strips are pulled away to remove the back hair. One product example is Nair Body Hair Removal Waxing Kit.

Step 4

Speak to a dermatologist about hair removal options. Laser hair removal can get rid of unwanted back hair. Highly concentrated light energy kills the hair follicles on the back to prevent future hair growth. Multiple sessions are required to achieve best results. Electrolysis involves the use of electrical currents to stop hair growth on the back.

Tips and Warnings

  • Certain hair removal methods are not recommended for use on the back. For example, tweezing involves the plucking of individual hairs. This would be too time-consuming for the back area. Certain products, like Razorba, can help you to get rid of the back hair on your own. The Razorba is an attachment for a razor that allows you to access hard-to-reach areas on the back.
