Music is a welcome addition to exercise. Repetitive cardio can be made more enjoyable by your personal stereo blaring out motivational music from "Rocky" or your personal favorite tunes. Important criteria for ear buds to wear during exercise include comfort, weight, fit and durability. The best earbuds allow you to exercise while barely realizing they are there.

"Good Housekeeping" gives high marks to the Cyber Acoustics ACM-2200 earbuds. Their exercise performance is enhanced by fitted rubber rings that make them cling to ears. Out of eight sets of earbuds, this product was the only one to stay in place during a force test. In-line volume control is featured on the wire so you can adjust the volume without having to interrupt your exercise digging around for your MP3 player. The headphones also come with a protective carrying case to keep them tangle free when they are stored in your gym bag. These earbuds cost $15.

Airdrives INA099210

The Airdrives earbuds use patented outer ear design revolutionary in exercise earphones. The earbud molds to the surface without actually entering the ear but provides equal sound to other headphones. These earbuds are marketed as sports tough and have a microphone for use while exercising. The product is compatible with iPhone and calls can be made using the microphone if you are not too out of breath during exercise. The cord allows you to play and pause music, answer calls and adjust volume without interrupting your exercise. These earbuds have been approved by audiologists for all day listening.

Sennheiser CX300

The Sennheiser CX300 earbuds received positive reviews on Amazon for use during exercise. The CX300 features a canal phone design that has most of the earbud outside of the ear. Digital Trends gave the CX300 positive reviews for sound quality and outstanding comfort. Also, these exercise earbuds stood up very well to rigorous use over a two-month period. The Sennheiser CX300 earbuds are listed at $65.
