Blemishes that appear on the pubic area, or bikini zone, are normally caused by improper use of hair removal tools. Blemishes can indicate razor burn or ingrown hairs after waxing, shaving, or sugaring. There are steps to avoid blemishes however, eliminating these blemishes once they appear may take some time. The proper procedures will help reduce pain, irritation, redness and visibility of these unsightly bikini zone blemishes.

Step 1

Exfoliate the skin daily. This will clean out clogged hair follicles and remove ingrown hairs. Exfoliation will also minimize swelling and redness associated with ingrown hairs.

Step 2

Apply hydrocortisone cream to the blemish. Hydrocortisone cream is an ideal anti-inflammatory that will soothe irritation and eliminate redness and swelling. This treatment should only be used for the first day or two.

Step 3

Moisturize the skin daily. This will allow for the skin to heal faster by allowing the skin's collagen fibers to form properly. This also protects the skin from further irritation brought on by dry or flaking dead skin cells that could worsen the blemish by settling into the pore.

Step 4

Opt for shaving with shaving cream as a method of hair removal while blemishes are present. Shave with the hair growth instead of against to minimize further irritation and allow the blemish to heal. Waxing and depilatory creams should be avoided during the healing process.

Step 5

Cleanse the bikini zone with a cleanser containing benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is commonly used in acne treatments to dissolve sebum, bacteria, and dead skin cells responsible for blemishes. This will also reduce redness and swelling.

Things You'll Need

  • Hydrocortisone cream
  • Skin moisturizer
