Humans have been combating wrinkles and aging since early times. The ancient Egyptians and Greeks tried many different essential oils and natural oils in an attempt to find just the right oil that would prevent wrinkles. Over the past few years, research has been done on oils and some have been found to be especially good at preventing the wrinkles that aging can bring on.
Sage
Sage oil can be beneficial to help prevent wrinkles in the skin. According to the Organic Facts website, sage oil has antioxidants that slow down aging and actually prevent wrinkles from developing. These antioxidants work against the free radicals that so commonly cause us to age. To try the sage oil remedy, dilute a drop or two of sage oil in the palm of your hand with a drop or two of water. Once the solution is mixed, apply it to your face as a nightly treatment just before bed. You should see a difference after using this oil for a few weeks.
Hyssop
According to the Organic Facts website, hyssop oil is extracted through steam distillation from leaves and flowers of the hyssop shrub. The plant is mainly grown in the Mediterranean region, and the herb was thought to be sacred in ancient times. The oil is beneficial because it helps to contract facial muscles and thus prevents skin from sagging and forming fine or deep wrinkles. Application of this oil can be done by diluting a drop of the oil in the palm of your hand with a drop of water. Mix the solution and then apply to your facial area.
Frankincense
Frankincense oil can also be very helpful in reducing wrinkling of the skin. According to Vanderbilt University, frankincense has been used for centuries as a beauty aid. The oil can help by toning the skin and works especially well for mature skin. It also has the ability to rejuvenate skin, making it feel and look much fresher, younger and healthier. Again, using only a small amount of oil that is diluted with a small amount of water is best before applying it to the skin. Also, applying the mixture at night will allow the oil to work on the skin overnight.
