Getting a bra that fits isn't as simple as taking a pile of bras into the dressing room and trying them on one at a time. You need to know your correct bra size in order to purchase a bra that fits you. Bra sizes are made up of three measurements: the bust size, the cup size and the band size. Once you know these three measurements, pick a bra that is closest to your size for the most supportive, comfortable fit.
Step 1
Put on a bra that is not padded. Make sure to take your measurements wearing only the bra.
Step 2
Measure your band size using a tailor's tape measure. Wrap the tape measure around your back at the level of the bottom band of the bra. Bring the tape measure around to the front and bring the two ends to the front of your chest, just above your breasts. Record this measurement as your band size. Victoria's Secret recommends rounding this number up to the next even number if your measurement is an odd number.
Step 3
Measure your bust measurement with the tape measure. At the level of your nipple, stretch the tape measure around your entire bust. Round up to the nearest inch and record this measurement as your bust size.
Step 4
Subtract your band size from your bust size to determine your cup size. For example, if your bust measurement is 34 inches and your band size is 32 inches, you are left with 2 inches. Record the difference between both numbers on a piece of paper.
Step 5
Match the difference between both numbers to determine your cup size. For example, a difference of 0 inches is an AA cup. A difference of 1 inch is an A cup, a difference of 2 inches is a B cup, a difference of 3 inches is a C cup, a difference of 4 inches is a D cup, a difference of 5 inches is a DD cup, and a difference of 6 inches is a DDD cup.
