How to Use Essential Oils on Dry Patches on the Face Cheeks

Dry skin (xerosis) is a common condition often caused by environmental factors, such as extreme heat or cold. Since the face is typically the most exposed area of skin, it can be hardest hit by the elements. In some cases, there may be dry, patchy areas around the cheeks. The topical application of certain essential oils may help to soothe and soften dry patches on the face.

Step 1

Make a facial paste that consists of equal amounts of almond oil, lemon juice and honey can be soothing and moisturizing. Apply the paste to the affected areas. Allow it to remain on your face for 20 to 30 minutes before washing it off. Almond oil may help heal dry, chapped patches of skin on the cheeks.

Step 2

Add a drop of tea tree oil to a 1/2 tsp. almond oil, and rub it into the affected skin to help treat dry patches. Another option is to simply add a drop of tea tree oil to your regular moisturizer. Tea tree oil is a natural antibacterial disinfectant that has been used for a number conditions, including acne.

Step 3

Massage a few drops of pure rose hip oil onto your cheeks once a day. Rose hip oil can also have softening effects on dry patches.

Step 4

Mix together 1/2 tsp. olive oil, 1 egg, 1 tsp. honey and a few drops of rosewater. (This facial mask made with olive oil may help soften dry patches on the cheeks.) Apply the mask to your entire face or just the chapped areas. Let it absorb into your skin for approximately 30 minutes before you wash it off. If you like, you may substitute almond oil for olive oil.
