Men experience hair growth all over their bodies in amounts that range from sparse to heavy. If you feel you have excessive hair, you may be self-conscious or embarrassed about it. There are several products you can use to help you remove excessive hair.
Shaving
Most men are accustomed to using shaving cream and a razor to shave their faces, but you can shave other parts of your body, too. First, use scissors or electric shears to trim the hair very short. Then wash your skin and leave it wet. Apply the shaving cream and shave it off in short, smooth strokes. If your skin is sensitive, use a cream with aloe in it. Use a flexible, triple-blade razor for a close shave. Rinse your skin well and apply a moisturizer.
Wax and Sugar
You can try waxing the hair at home or go to a spa or salon. Hot wax is applied to the skin and a cloth strip is smoothed over the wax. When you rip off the cloth, the wax and hair comes with it. You can buy a home kit with all the tools and instructions you need. Although your skin will sting as the cloth is ripped off, your skin will stay hair-free for several weeks.
Sugaring is similar to waxing, except a mixture of sugar, citric acid and gum arabic is used instead of wax.
Depilatory Cream
Depilatories come in aerosols, creams and gels. They have active chemicals that break down keratin, the substance that gives hair its strength. Follow the instructions to test a small area of skin for an allergic reaction before you use the cream for hair removal. To use a depilatory, first wash your skin with warm water. Apply the cream liberally, without rubbing it in, and wait up to 10 minutes while the depilatory chemicals dissolve the hair. Wipe off the cream with a washcloth and rinse your skin well with warm water.
Tweezers
You can use tweezers to remove hair in small areas, such as between your eyebrows and on top of your knuckles and toes. To pluck out the hairs, grab one at a time just above the skin and pull straight out in a smooth motion. Angled tweezers let you get closer to the skin.
Trimmers
Mini trimmers are battery-operated or electric. You can use them in small areas such as the inside of your nose and ears or on the sides of the neck.
