Sagging neck skin--call it what you will; turkey wattle, turkey neck or saggy-baggy--makes a person look older, detracts from the profile and may create lack of self-confidence in some. The best methods to get rid of sagging neck skin are to exercise that area, exercising the muscles underneath, and promoting healthy skin care, which may improve tone and elasticity of the skin under the chin and on the neck. While surgery is always an option, those preferring non-surgical methods may engage in a number of steps to help reduce the appearance of loose neck skin that lasts for years.

Step 1

Strengthen the neck and jaw muscles by performing resistance exercises, using your hand as an exercise tool. Regular exercise of the neck not only relieves tension and strain, but helps tone muscles of the chin and jaw, as well as increase circulation to the area, promoting healthy skin cell growth.

Place one hand against the right side of the head and press your head against it, holding the tension for about five seconds, then release. Place the opposite hand against the other side of the head and repeat the exercise. Repeat this process between five to 10 times on each side. You can do this exercise several times a day.

You can also work different muscles in the neck by alternating pressing the hand against the forehead as well as the back of the head and performing the same routine, working all the muscles, but most especially the front of the neck area, state experts at the University of Maryland.

Step 2

Lie down on your bed, eyes facing the ceiling. Allow the head to hang down over the edge of the bed. Slowly, lift the head upward until the chin is level with your chest. Hold for a count of five and then slowly lower. Repeat this exercise between five and 10 times. You can perform this exercise several times a day, according to Dermaxime.

Step 3

Standing or sitting in a comfortable position, lift your face to the ceiling. Pretend that you are chewing gum, keeping the lips closed, but not too tightly. Chew about 20 to 25 times and then relax, lowering the face to look in front of you. Repeat one or two times, once or twice a day.

Step 4

Sit on a chair and lift your face toward the ceiling. Open the mouth wide and then try to bring your lower lip over your upper lip. Hold for a count of three at the top of the move. Relax and then repeat the exercise about 10 times. You can do this several times a day, feeling the pull in the front portion of the throat.

Step 5

Moisturize the skin of your face and neck every day. Massage a moisturizing cream or lotion into the skin of the neck and upper chest at the bottom of the throat area, suggests John Sern of The Red Carpet Broadcast. Regular application of moisturizers will help keep skin cells healthy, hydrated and plump. Massage will increase blood circulation, offering vital nutrients and oxygen to those skin cells, resulting in a younger, smoother appearance.
