Nail clippers that are not properly and routinely cleaned can spread fungus and bacteria, especially if more than one person uses the same clippers..
Step 1
Heat two or three cups of water in a pot on the stove. You need only enough water to completely submerge the nail clippers, plus about a quarter-inch. You want the water to be quite warm, but it needn't be scalding or boiling.
Step 2
Remove the pot from the stove and drop the nail clippers into the warm water.
Step 3
Pour three or four drops of liquid soap into the water.
Step 4
Soak the clippers in the warm, soap-filled water for about 10 to 15 minutes..
Step 5
Remove the nail clippers and dry them with the rag or a clean dish towel.
Step 6
Put a few drops of rubbing alcohol onto a cotton swab and run the swab lightly over the entire surface of the nail clippers. This will act as a disinfectant, killing germs.
Step 7
Dry the clippers carefully with the rag, making sure all alcohol and water are removed so the clippers do not rust.
