How to Get Rid of Acne Marks on the Buttocks

Acne can appear anywhere on the body, including the face, chest, neck, back and buttocks. When acne occurs on the buttocks, it can be particularly difficult to treat due to the fact that clothing can constantly rub against the acne and can prevent it from properly healing. Luckily, by following a routine that cleanses the skin without irritating it, kills off acne-causing bacteria quickly, and dries up pustules overnight, buttocks acne can be effectively eliminated.

Step 1

Wash the skin on the buttocks gently with a sensitive skin soap, which will clean the skin without exacerbating or irritating the skin. Wet the buttocks well with water, and lather it with the sensitive skin soap. Avoid scrubbing or rubbing the lather in, which can cause irritation. Rinse off the skin with water. Repeat two times per day.

Step 2

Medicate the skin on the buttocks with a medium strength benzoyl peroxide cream, which will kill off acne-causing bacteria without causing severe irritation, which can prevent the skin from properly healing. Squeeze a dime-sized amount of a 5 percent concentration of benzoyl peroxide onto your fingers, and gently spread it around the buttocks that is effected by acne breakouts until it has soaked in. Repeat two times per day.

Step 3

Spot treat the skin on the buttocks with a naturally drying mineral lotion, such as calamine lotion. Shake a bottle of calamine lotion to mix it well. Squeeze a goodly amount of the lotion onto a cotton swab, and apply it directly to the active acne breakouts. Allow the lotion to dry, and leave it on overnight. Rinse off the lotion with water in the morning. Repeat once per night.

Tips and Warnings

  • Using a sensitive skin soap will allow the skin to become clear without causing it to become inflamed or irritated. This is because sensitive skin soaps are free of artificial perfumes, solvents, oils and additives that are chemical in nature and harsh on the skin. Avoid soaps that contain sulfates, petroleum or preservatives. A mid-strength benzoyl peroxide cream will clear stubborn acne, which is typical of the acne that effects the buttocks, without causing the side effects of a higher-strength cream, such as peeling, burning or redness. Calamine lotion, which is typically used to dry up the blisters of chicken pox, can be used to dry up buttocks acne as well.
